Getting to the NCAA Tournament was such an improbability for the Florida A&M men's basketball team a decade ago.
Then-coach Mickey Clayton was left with just seven scholarship players after injuries had depleted his team during the 1999 season that started 0-10.
But with two walk-ons, the Rattlers won four games in five days to capture the school's first MEAC Tournament championship for a berth to the NCAA Tournament.

The Kentucky State men's basketball team lit it up from the outside in the first half and cruised to a 76-63 win over Morehouse College Saturday at the Exum Center.
It was the regular-season finale for both teams.
The Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference tournament starts Tuesday and runs through Saturday at Morehouse in Atlanta.

Kentucky State's basketball teams celebrated Senior Night with two wins over Clark-Atlanta Thursday at the Exum Center.
The Thorobreds (9-16, 9-13 SIAC) defeated Clark-Atlanta (22-5, 19-5 SIAC) 70-65 while the KSU women (16-10, 16-6 SIAC) won 62-45.
In a ceremony prior to the men's game, K-State honored its senior basketball players – Latrice Watkins, Jessica Vaughn, Jarrod Gay and Parysh Munroe.

Funeral arrangements still are pending.
Under Mitchell's guidance, KSU dominated the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics.

Lucias Mitchell, who coached Norfolk State's men's basketball team after winning three national championships at Kentucky State, died Tuesday night after a lengthy illness.
He was 74.
An important figure in college basketball in the 1970s at Kentucky State, Mitchell didn't find the same success at Norfolk State.

The Edson Legion Midget Sabres will be seeing a lot of the Whitecourt Mustangs in the next couple of weeks.
After defeating the Hinton Alstars in the first round of provincial playoffs, the Sabres faced Whitecourt this past weekend in round two.
Game one was in Whitecourt on Feb. 12, while game two was scheduled for the Centennial arena on Feb. 14.

Pele snatched the Mayor's 75th Birth Anniversary 7-a-side Knockout Football title at the Tucville ground on Friday evening after they defeated Alpha United 4-1 in the final.
Pele brushed aside the challenge of Alpha with ease as they fired on all cylinders.

For a man of his basketball portfolio, Travis Grant has lived in relative obscurity.
The all-time leading scorer in college basketball history scored his 4,045 points at Kentucky State, a historically black school, in the early 1970s, when college basketball was just beginning to integrate.
His fame was largely confined to the Municipal Auditorium in Kansas City, where 10,000 fans watched the full-court pressing Thorobreds rip off three consecutive NAIA championships from 1970-72.
